On Friday evening 29^th September 2023 the market supported the Fresh Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.  The event is an annual celebration of all aspects of the fresh produce industry, and is organised by the Fresh Produce Consortium.  As always the evening was a huge success with over 700 guests attending from a wide variety of companies; all there to  show their support of the fresh produce sector, and many were worthy winners within their specific categories.

New Spitalfields Market were pleased to sponsor two of the categories – Wholesale Fruit & Veg Supplier of the Year and Wholesale Plant Supplier of the Year.

The winners of the Fruit and Veg supplier category were Fresh Direct.   The judge’s comments  to support this were “Fresh Direct has stood tall during unprecedented challenges”

The winners of the  Wholesale plant supplier were The Horti House and the comments to support this win were “The Horti House is shaking up the wholesale market”.

Chris Hutchinson, Vice Chairman of the Spitalfields Tenants Association, went on stage to present these two prestigious awards, along with the night’s compere Jay Rayner,  the well known food critic, journalist and presenter.
