Peter Durber, a longstanding trader at New Spitalfields Market with his import/export wholesale company trademark Tropifresh, (owned Du Bois Enterprises Ltd),   won the highest accolade at the Fresh Awards Dinner last Friday evening, 26th September. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his involvement in the industry for over 40 years.    It was in recognition of his dedication to the fresh produce wholesale industry, with his commercial links established during a former career in the Caribbean Islands.  Peter’s company specialises in Afro, Caribbean and South American produce and his customer base is across the UK.  He started as a trader in the Old Spitalfields Market in the City of London in the early 1980’s and moved with the market in 1991 to its new site in Leyton, E10.  The uniqueness of his company at the market has kept his customer base strong and the market is proud to have Peter and his team working with fellow traders to keep the market a busy and vibrant place to do business.   Market traders have been keen to praise Peter for all his achievements and are proud to have his business situated alongside their own at New Spitalfields Market.
The event is organised each year by the Fresh Produce Consortium and was this year hosted by Chris Bavin, TV presenter and a firm supporter of the wholesale sector in the UK.
